L.E.S. The area comprised of the East Village and Lower East Side radiates a personality distinct from any other in Manhattan. Forgotten by the subway system, it is further isolated from the rest of the city. I became curious about the objects that reside in the abundant community gardens. They are worn and seem to be randomly placed or left behind. I quickly noticed that these objects and their subtle eccentricity bleed beyond the gardens. The people and objects have ended up here as if by chance. These streets are a kind of oasis, a whimsical place where the people are absorbed only in the happenings of the Lower East Side, and have created a culture of their own.
